The Discovery Channel's "Alaskan Bush People" has been surrounded by news of fakery one after another. Now on its fourth season, many believes that the "reality TV show" is completely scripted.
Brown Family Lives in a Hotel
The Brown family is leaving in Chicagof Island, in a place they call Browntown, which they claim they have built with their own hands. But recently, locals said they have spotted the Brown children in Juneau, the Alaskan capital. They also said that the Browns often ditch the bush once the camera stopped rolling and live in Icy Strait Inn in Hoonah, as reported by Radar Online. Earlier this week, Bam Bam, Rain and Bird were spotted at the Juneau Department of Motor Vehicles, along with their parents Billy and Ami and the rest of their siblings except for Matt. Matt has reportedly entered a rehab to deal with his excessive drinking.
Alaskan Bush People Was Meant As Documentary
An article from Capital City Weekly back in 2008 talked about a show that is based on Billy Brown's book titled "One Wave at a Time," in which Billy narrated his family's experiences in the wilderness of Alaska. The article read, "The Browns are returning to Alaska in early May from a book signing and speaking engagement tour in the lower 48, to once again venture into the bush to re-create the journey described in the book. Accompanied by a professional camera crew, they will be filming this 57 day journey for a TV documentary to be aired nationally and internationally in early 2009."
This suggests that "Alaskan Bush People" was meant to be a documentary from the beginning. But why is it claiming to be a reality show?
"Alaskan Bush People" airs every Friday at 9 p.m. ET on The Discovery Channel.
