Nintendo has confirmed months ago that gamers won't be seeing its upcoming console, the Nintendo NX, at the E3 in Los Angeles this week. However, fans hoping to get a glimpse of the unit might have a chance to test it out before the year ends, if they attend the right event.
Reports say that the Nintendo NX will make its appearance at the EGX 2016 event taking place in the United Kingdom, which happens from Sept. 22 to 25, 2016. What's more, gamers might even be able to play a demo of the highly-anticipated console.
WCCF Tech reports with a screenshot of a survey that the organizers of the EGX 2016 made for those purchasing tickets to the event. It asked interested participants what platforms they would like to test out at this year's EGX, and Nintendo NX is part of the list.
While the actual console still doesn't have an official release date yet, it's curious among gamers as to why EGX 2016 included Nintendo NX in the list. Speculations are that the gaming giant might consider giving fans a glimpse of the Nintendo NX before its actual launch in March 2017.
Further boosting speculations of a Nintendo NX unveiling in September is the upcoming Tokyo Game Show in Japan, which is happening from Sept 15 to 18. VR World cites that Nintendo could be showing the Nintendo NX there first, before the U.K. premier game event EGX 2016. This is based off a presentation by AMD to its investors, which hinted of a "new semi-custom business in 2H 2016."
In previous months, Nintendo announced that it wasn't going to be making any pronouncements about the Nintendo NX until the last quarter of the year at least. For the rest of the summer, only news about "Legend of Zelda" will be coming from the company. Thus, fans might not get any confirmation about any potential Nintendo NX unveiling for now.
However, the timing of the two events in September seems ripe for the taking for Nintendo and it might make sense for those following the Nintendo NX development closely. When the company is poised to bring a different kind of game console in 2017, it will need big crowds from the EGX 2016 or the Tokyo Game Show to create more buzz.
