PS4 Neo Release Date, News: Why Sony Console Was Not At E3 2016; Possible Tokyo Game Show Demo Set?

Gamers looking forward to Sony's unveiling of the PS4 Neo at the E3 early this week have been disappointed that the new console was missing from the gaming giant's booth. Despite predictions that the powerful hardware would be at the expo, Sony decided to focus on showing off its latest games instead.

However, all is not lost for gaming fans as it's still possible the company might hold a presentation of an actual PS4 Neo. Sources point to the Tokyo Game Show as the likely venue, which is slated to take place in September.

PS4 Neo Release Date: Why Sony Left Out PS4 Neo At The E3 2016

Per Digital Spy, Sony deliberately didn't make any announcements or presentation of the PS4 Neo since they had a strong slate of upcoming games to show the public. An executive of the company also told the news outlet that it wanted to be prepared before making a demonstration of the console. "So we will do that when we are ready, when we can show it properly," said Jim Ryan of Sony.

Per Cinema Blend, the general sentiment was that Sony's E3 2016 show was indeed a good one despite the missing PS4 Neo. The company had a strong selection of games even if these ran on a regular PlayStation 4. Sony still bested other booths, including its biggest competitor, Microsoft and the Xbox One.

PS4 Neo Release Date: PS4 Neo At The Tokyo Game Show

However, gamers would still want to get a peek of the PS4 Neo, especially when there are unconfirmed reports that the unit could be ready for the holiday season. Forbes reports that Sony might finally unveil this at the Tokyo Game Show, which is considered as "Sony's home turf."

The September event also happens just in time for Sony's release of the PlayStation Virtual Reality (PSVR) headset in October. After all, the PSVR is supposed to work best with the PS4 Neo and showing these gadgets off together before the release date could boost sales.
