'GTA 6' Release Date, News & Update: Rockstar Sequel E3 2016 No-Show Lends Bigger Possibility For London Map?

"GTA 6" news had been among the most awaited from Rockstar at the E3 2016 and absence of word sparked buzz that a London map is looking more likely. In the past, London had been a strong contender in fan speculation on the "Grand Theft Auto 5" sequel.

In a previous article, Digital Spy cited Rockstar North developers pointing to London being suited to "Grand Theft Auto" demands and culture. Comment by Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser highlighted some of the qualities that make up the "Grand Theft Auto" brand.

"At the moment, it feels like GTA's DNA is contemporary-ish, American-ish, English-speaking-ish, because that's what it has been," Dan House said. "But that doesn't necessarily limit it to those, that's just what we've done so far."

A separate article on Parent Herald reports that the challenge of taking "GTA 6" outside of the US is the need to make huge changes. A map change at best for "GTA 6" would require extensive production time, especially with news that Rockstar will give the new "Grand Theft Auto" a map size that makes the Los Santos and Blaine County maps modest by comparison.

Rockstar would not just have to allocate time and resources for a new map for "GTA 6." A London location would also require significant changes and additions to the vehicle brand line up.

Such a change is not something Rockstar shies away from and had almost taken "GTA" to Tokyo. The road system in Tokyo, deemed problematic by the developers was one of the main things that kept "GTA: Tokyo" from happening.

With developer nod for "Grand Theft Auto" in London, the conspicuous absence of "GTA 6" news at the E3 2016 lends more credence to this likelihood. Projections place anticipations for Rockstar to release "GTA 6" alongside PS 5 and XBox Two availability in 2020.
