Updates on "Iron Man 4" release date are hinting that the highly anticipated fourth installment may finally be underway. However, rumors are rife that despite it being allegedly confirmed, it will still take a couple of years to be released on the big screen.
Speculations arise as well that the Marvel blockbuster starring Robert Downey Jr. might not get another standalone movie given the actor's age by the time the fourth movie materializes. Although RDJ did confirm that he is not hanging his Iron Suit just yet, he did not disclose whether fans will see him in action in "Iron Man 4."
"I don't know how long I'll do it for," Downey Jr. told Daily Star. "I'll keep playing Iron Man for a couple more years, I guess."
Meanwhile, new "Iron Man 4" release date updates are also hinting on the possibility of a 2020 launch, and could possibly be shown after "Avengers: Infinity War." However, Vine Report noted that despite the MCU timeline, Marvel can still opt to make "Iron Man 4" into a sort of a prequel following the events of "Captain America: Civil War."
This could be a good idea to explore given how fans saw a distraught Tony Stark in "Civil War." This could also be an opportunity to highlight Tony and Pepper Potts' relationship, which was presumed to be in a dark place in the previous Cap flick.
There are other reports claiming that "Iron Man 4" could be RDJ-free should yet be confirmed. Sources are claiming that Downey Jr. is the most expensive actor on the Marvel roster, and Disney and Marvel might refuse to take him given his age. He will be 55 when the rumored 2020 release date comes.
