Sorry, vampire and Lycan fans! The premiere date of Kate Beckinsale's upcoming "Underworld" sequel, "Underworld: Blood Wars" was reportedly delayed for a Jan. 6, 2016 release. The announcement came as Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment decided to move the original pre-Halloween Oct. 14 release schedule to a much later date, which is almost three months after the sequel's initial date of release.
Following the release of the first "Underworld" film in 2003, several movie watchers were enthralled to the vampires vs. werewolves theme of the film, where vampire Selene (Beckinsale) was seen in carnage against werewolves called Lycans, who she believed killed her family. In fact, the four "Underworld" films have grossed $460 million in the global box office, Variety notes.

The reason or reasons s for the delay of "Underworld: Blood Wars" are yet to be revealed. In the film's IMDb message board, however, fans are speculating that the delay of the fifth installment of the "Underworld" franchise was due to the fact that Screen Gems wanted to stick to the release date format that has "proven successful" for the series, which is a January release (noting that three of the four "Underworld" movies in the franchise were released in January).
'Underworld: Blood Wars' Is Reportedly The Final Installment Of The 'Underworld' Franchise

In addition, another user also claimed that "Underworld: Blood Wars" writer and Beckinsale's former husband Len Wiseman has revealed that Kate will be on the sixth installment. And even though the plot details are currently unknown, some are hoping for the possibility of Selene and Michael's reunion in "Underworld: Blood Wars."
