'Thor: Ragnarok' News & Updates: Karl Urban's Skurge Might Not Be The Villain Opposite Chris Hemsworth And Mark Ruffalo?

Things are getting exciting for "Thor: Ragnarok," which has just added "Lord of the Rings" star Karl Urban as the Odinson's longtime foe Skurge. But will Karl Urban play the bad guy alongside Cate Blanchett in "Thor: Ragnarok?" The "Star Trek Beyond" actor has just teased that Skurge might have a bigger role in "Thor 3" than just another villain!

Skurge Is Coming To "Thor: Ragnarok"

Karl Urban recently spoke to IGN during a "Star Trek Beyond" press event, where he confirmed that he is looking forward to working on "Thor: Ragnarok." The former "Lord of the Rings" star shared that the script was "fantastic" and he immediately wanted to "be a part of" the film for the opportunity to work with director Taika Waititi. In addition to that, his character Skurge happens to have "a great arc to him."

Is Skurge The Villain In "Thor: Ragnarok?"

Although Skurge has often been at odds with Thor in the comic books, there is a possibility that Karl Urban's character will not be too evil in "Thor: Ragnarok." IGN speculates that the "great arc" Karl Urban is teasing about could follow the storyline from the comic books where Skurge teams up with the Asgardians to save Thor from the underworld.

If Skurge Is Not The Bad Guy In "Thor: Ragnarok," Then Who Is?

Mark Ruffalo has previously confirmed that Cate Blanchett will be playing the villain in "Thor: Ragnarok" although her character has yet to be revealed (via ETOnline). There are speculations that Cate Blanchett will portray Hela, Goddess of Death in "Thor: Ragnarok" and the female villain's appearance in the film could further confirm that Skurge's story arc will involve saving Thor from the underworld.

"Thor: Ragnarok" marks the return of Chris Hemsworth as the Odinson. The film is scheduled for release on November 3, 2017.
