There is no doubt that even after over a decade of waiting, many are still waiting for the third installment of "Half Life." Unfortunately, it seems about time to give up for "Half Life 3" because according to reports, it's not coming anymore.
'Half Life 3' Not Coming Anymore
According to Yibada, there is a slim chance for "Half Life 3" to come to life. Valve has remained mum about the progress of the game and despite the hype about the title, they never confirmed the details of the next "Half Life" title. Due to Valve's silence, someone else did the announcement.
Parent Herald previously reported that a fake Twitter account confirmed "Half Life 3." In fact, the poser created a number of alternate accounts and spread the misleading information. This stirred that "Half Life" fans who had been yearning for the title. Unfortunately, it was not true.
Hints About 'Half Life 3's' Cancellation
"Half Life" fans remain hopeful for the franchise's third installation but it seems that the team behind it is not as enthusiastic. Valve CEO Gabe Newell is reluctant of "Half Life 3" as they focus on "Counterstrike" and "Left 4 Dead."
"The only reason we'd go back and do like a super classic kind of product is if a whole bunch of people just internally at Valve said they wanted to do it and had a reasonable explanation for why," Newell said per the News Independent. "But you know if you want to do another Half-Life game and you want to ignore everything we've learned in shipping Portal 2 and in shipping all the updates on the multiplayer side, that seems like a bad choice."
Another hint that "Half Life 3's" future is bleak is Marc Laidlaw's resignation. Laidlaw is a significant figure in the "Half Life" franchise. In fact, he is more optimistic about "Half Life 3" than Newell but with him out in the picture, the title's future is dark.
