The "A Song of Ice and Fire" fans have been waiting for the arrival of its sixth book. Unfortunately, it's been five years and counting, yet "The Winds of Winter" is still not out. Based on George RR Martin's recent post he is busy with other projects and the year-end release for "The Winds of Winter" is unlikely.
George RR Martin Busy With Other Projects Than 'The Winds of Winter'
Fans are expecting George RR Martin to finish "The Winds of Winter." The New Mexican author also expressed his dedication to finishing "TWOW" and admitted that he is disappointed that the book is still on his desk.
However, it looks like that "The Winds of Winter" is slipping away from George RR Martin's priority again. Parent Herald previously reported that the 67-year-old author will decline future invitations and commitment to finish "The Winds of Winter".
"I am not writing anything until I deliver WINDS OF WINTER. Teleplays, screenplays, short stories, introductions, forewords, nothing," he said. However, in his recent post, Martin worked with Melinda M. Snodgrass for "Highstakes A Wild Cards Novel."
It seemed that fans couldn't trust George RR Martin's words when it comes to his dedication to finishing "The Winds of Winter." Over a year ago, the "ASOIAF" scribe told Entertainment Weekly that he is determined to "TWOW." In fact, he canceled two conference and several interviews, yet he still failed to finish "The Winds of Winter."
'The Winds of Winter' Still Far From Completions, Year-End Release Unlikely
Parent Herald previously reported that "The Winds of Winter" is already done and that George RR Martin is just waiting for a year-end release. However, per iDigitalTimes, if the book is done, Martin would have announced it because marketing is better than dropping big surprises.
The report notes that "'Winds of Winter' isn't done yet. He'll tell us when it is." Thus, a year-end release for "TWOW" is unlikely. So, for those waiting for "The Winds of Winter," it is time that you let go of your hopes and move forward.
