'Champions For Charity' Match To Honor Michael Schumacher
The "Champions for Charity" match was held at FSV Mainz's COface Arena in Germany on Wednesday, Jul. 27, as a tribute to embattled F1 legend Michael Schumacher. According to Daily Mirror, Schumi's F1 colleagues and some of the world's top racers including Daniel Ricciardo, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg participated on the match under the team, Nationale Piloti, which was led by Vettel.
In addition, Michael Schumacher's 17-year-old son Mick also joined the match. Other participants also included Felipe Massa, Mika Hakkinen, Nico Hulkenberg, Pascal Wehrlein, Timo Glock, David Coulthard and Christian Vietoris.
F1 Racers Vs. Dirk Nowitzki's Team Of Sporting Champions
During the football tribute match to Michael Schumacher, the team of F1 superstars competed against a team of sporting champions headed by NBA star Dirk Nowitzki. Also joining the Nowitzki All Stars team were Lukas Podolski, Sebastian Kehl, Miroslav Klose, Stefan Reinartz, Arne Friedrich and Simon Rolfes.
Even though the main focus of the "Champions for Charity" match was Michael Schumacher and his recovery, there were also other charities that will benefit from the tribute game including the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation and BasKIDball, Daily Mail revealed.
Michael Schumacher's Health Condition Remains Unknown
Meanwhile, as the sporting champs honored seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher through a football match, his current health condition remains unknown. As a matter of fact, updates about his health and recovery are scarce and elusive but FX News Call recently claimed that Schumi's treatment money may be drying up.
