'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' Season 2 Air Date & Latest News: 4-Season Plan Set? Rebecca Goes From Ex-GF To Ex-WIFE?

Production for "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 2 has started rolling as the show is set to return on The CW on Friday, Oct. 21. Viewers might recall that at the end of last season, Rebecca (Rachel Bloom) and Josh (Vincent Rodriguez III) seemed to have sealed their relationship. So, what can viewers expect in the new season?

'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' Season 2: This Time It's Crazy Girlfriend!

Apparently, show creators Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna have already mapped out the series' themes for the next four seasons of "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend." If Season 1 was about the "crazy ex-girlfriend," Season 2 will be about the "crazy girlfriend," which would eventually progress to "crazy wife" (Season 3) and then "crazy ex-wife" (Season 4).

"Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" songwriter Adam Schlesinger and music producer Steven M. Gold revealed this trajectory in an interview with Variety. But as far as the immediate upcoming second season is concerned, "Crazy Ex-girlfriend" will be exploring the fact that Rachel no longer denies she's in love with Josh and their relationship would have blossomed in Season 2.

"They've had sex," per Rachel Bloom via The Hollywood Reporter. " She's openly in love with him. What happens now?"

'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' Viewership Boost

This summer "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" has gotten a huge boost in viewership thanks to reruns of the show's first season on Netflix, in all of the service's territories. According to The Guardian, the show has climbed Netflix's Best Of List since it started running in July.

Ironically, "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" has been struggling with ratings on The CW as a new series in the 2015-2016 season. But the Netflix boost, as well as the Emmy nominations for its songs and music, there is great hope that the show has finally found its audience.

Catch "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 2 on The CW beginning Fridays, Oct. 21. Catch up on the complete first season via streaming on Netflix.
