Pregnancy app Glow has updated its system after Consumer Reports released its findings that revealed several security flaws. Glow's website describes it as an app for fertility and beyond, featuring a fertility calendar, daily health log, health insights. The app is also partner connected.

"We were troubled by the nature and depth of the security problems we discovered," said Consumer Reports' director of electronics testing Maria Rerecich in an article in their website. "But we were pleased to see how quickly Glow responded to our concerns," Rerecich added.

Three Security Flaws Found In Pregnancy App

A Consumerist report enumerated and discussed the three security problems that Consumer Reports found in Glow, which the makes of the app have since addressed. The report said that while Glow allows women to connect their account with their partner, users could easily add themselves to a woman's account without her permission and gain access to private data.

There were also said to be embedded personal data such an account user's name and location in posts found in the app's forums. Lastly, examination of the app revealed that it was possible to take over another person's account by easily changing the password because one does not need the old password to make a new one.

Glow Data Intact, Company Says

According to News 4 JAX, Glow said "there is no evidence to suggest that any Glow data has been compromised." Some data that Glow asks for includes the use of birth control and whether or not the user is constipated, the report said.

Glow users have reportedly been told by the company to change their password, update the Glow pregnancy app and relink their account with their partner's account. Consumer Reports said that Glow was developed by technology company HVF, which stands for Hard Valuable Fun. The Glow app is available for download in both Android and iPhone.
