'Supergirl' Season 2 Spoilers & Latest News: Superman's Addition Puts New Spin On Clark And Kara, How Different Will They Be?

With Superman coming for a special multi-episode appearance on "Supergirl" Season 2, viewers should expect to see something different from the character. His addition will also shed light on the dynamics between Clark and Kara. But how much different will this be from other versions of Superman?

For decades, the idea of Superman has been perpetuated in the media. Everyone knows who Clark Kent or Superman is and most people have seen the character being played by different actors. But on "Supergirl" Season 2, Tyler Hoechlin as Superman/Clark Kent will have a new layer to him. "[His presence] just gives us a different window into Kara and frankly, into Clark," said "Supergirl" executive producer Sarah Schechter via Comic Book.

Schechter goes on to say that most people have not yet seen Superman with Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and vice versa. So, this is what viewers can look forward to when it comes to seeing a different Superman this time around.

The producer also pointed out why they didn't bring in Superman or Clark earlier on "Supergirl." In the previous season, Kara and Clark only communicated through text messaging or online chats. Superman was also hinted to have helped Supergirl in one instance, but he wasn't actually shown on TV.

Schechter said that this was necessary to keep Supergirl separate from Superman in the beginning. Viewers have to know Kara and learn about her connection to Krypton first, before they have to bring in her more popular cousin.

Viewers have to also identify and differentiate how Kara, who is 13 years older than Clark, had a life in Krypton before it blew up, while her super cousin grew up on Earth. Their backgrounds will eventually be highlighted and played out in "Supergirl" Season 2, in a way that will make viewers look at Superman/Clark and Supergirl/Kara in a new light.

Meanwhile, Tyler Hoechlin is currently on the set filming "Supergirl" Season 2. Daily Mail spotted the actor in Vancouver wearing his Clark Kent glasses and filmed some scenes with Mehcad Brooks, who plays Jimmy Olsen in the show.

"Supergirl" Season 2 returns to The CW in Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. The show's first season is currently re-airing on the network so that other viewers can catch up.
