NBA Trade Rumors: Alan Anderson Joins LA Clippers; Team Looking For More Recruits To Avoid Tax Penalty

The former Washington Wizards shooting guard and small forward, Alan Anderson will be wearing another jersey in the upcoming NBA season. According to reports, Anderson just signed with the Los Angeles Clippers and the team is still looking for more recruits to avoid tax penalty.

Per Ecumenical News, Alan Anderson underwent a surgery for his ankle injury two weeks ahead of the 2015-216 NBA season. Due to this, he missed the majority of the regular season.

Alan Anderson did not perform well for Washington Wizards in the last NBA season, which triggers reports that the team will not re-sign him and it looks to be the case. SB Nation reported that LA Clippers just signed Anderson for the next NBA season.

However, per iTechPost, the Clippers are doing so to avoid tax penalties. Currently, the team's roster includes veteran players and draft picks like Jamal Crawford, Brice Johnson and Alan Anderson.

ESPN reported that LA Clippers have paid the tax penalty for three consecutive seasons and if they violate the salary cap again, they will be in for another tax penalty. Before signing Alan Anderson the team could be penalized by almost $2 million.

After signing Alan Anderson for a one-year contract amounting to $1.5 million, Clippers will just have to pay almost $4 million for their tax. The report notes that the team is still looking for new recruits. However, the team prefers a player with a lower salary to avoid penalty.

However, per Clips Nation, after signing Alan Anderson Clippers now have a full 15 players on their roster, which means that the offseason is over for the team. The current players on the roster will join the next NBA season and experience another significant trade or the like in the next offseason.
