NBA Rumors: Oklahoma City Thunder To Boast A Blake Griffin, Russell Westbrook Tandem?

Latest NBA rumors gander that the Oklahoma City Thunder will bring in a strong tandem between point guard Russell Westbrook and Los Angeles Clippers' Blake Griffin. Despite the loss of Kevin Durant for the coming season, the Thunder is reportedly determined to bring another duo to watch out for come next summer.

Parent Herald cites reports that Russell Westbrook recently allowed the Oklahoma City Thunder a breath of relief by signing up for a three-year contract extension. Although the Boston Celtics almost acquired Russell Westbrook for the next NBA season, the all-star point guard eventually decided on extending loyalty to the Thunder.

NBA rumors now hotly pursue a Russell Westbrook and Blake Griffin tandem for free agency 2017. CBS Sports for one cites reports that Oklahoma City Thunder will work the 2017 free agency to bring Blake Griffin into the fold.

Certainly, this speculation is not hard to understand as fans would recall that Blake Griffin originally hails from Oklahoma. The 2017 free agency would give the Oklahoma City Thunder the chance to entice Blake Griffin back home.

The Vertical interestingly cites the scenario Blake Griffin is leaving at the Los Angeles Clippers. "Griffin is an Oklahoma kid gone Hollywood, a star who has his own tensions with Chris Paul on the Clippers," the Vertical said.

Still, head coach Doc Rivers would likely not give in so easily on the Los Angeles Clippers losing Blake Griffin. This job seems to get harder by the minute for Doc Rivers as Blake Griffin is on currently highly in demand.

Of course Blake Griffin could figure in an attractive NBA trade for next season. CBS Sports also points out that an Oklahoma City Thunder move for Blake Griffin mostly banks on a comfortable "homecoming" and a team up with Russell Westbrook.
