There is no doubt that Greg Monroe is another favorite player for the NBA trade rumors, along with Blake Griffin and Rudy Gay. According to reports, Boston Celtics should get Monroe over Jahlil Okafor in their team for the next NBA season.
According to Morning News USA, Boston Celtics should get Greg Monroe in their roster over Jahlil Okafor. Monroe and Okafor are the leading names to partner Celtics' power forward and center Al Horford.
Per the reports, the Philadelphia 76ers has rare talents and one of them is Jahlil Okafor. Thus, the team won't surely trade him for cheap. Pursuing Okafor might cost the Celtics either Avery Bradley or Jae Crowder, who are steady contributors to the team's offense.
For this reason, Hardwood Houdini suggested that Boston Celtics should get Milwaukee Bucks power forward and center, Greg Monroe. Monroe and Jahlil Okafor have outstanding similarities especially at scoring in the low post.
However, looking at their records, Jahlil Okafor is better in the scoring department. But what Greg Monroe lacks he makes up in rebounding. Monroe excels at rebounding over Okafor.
Also, Greg Monroe is great at his passing ability. He can easily spot on the open man, which makes him a great addition to Celtics. In addition, with Bucks taking Monroe for granted, Celtics could easily acquire him.
Although Jahlil Okafor is younger than Greg Monroe, the latter is still in his prime. His longer years in the NBA league could also mean more experience. Thus, Celtics would find a great bargain in getting Monroe over Okafor.
CBS Sport's Matt Moore also agrees that Greg Monroe is best with Celtics in the NBA league. "The Celtics always want that big-name player without having to actually give up anyone of consequence, and if the Bucks just want to move on, this isn't a bad option. Brad Stevens was able to make Kelly Olynyk into a plus defender last season, and Monroe is at least as talented as Olynyk," Moore said per Celtics Blog.
