Since "Outlander" Season 3 will be based on Diana Gabaldon's third book titled "Voyager," fans and viewers will see Jamie and Claire in a completely different environment. Aside from seeing ships and seas next season, Claire will also move to a different location.

Balfe recounted that she read Gabaldon's third book in order to find out what happened to Claire, particularly when she was in Boston. Balfe said that she wanted to know what took place in the 20 years that Claire and Jamie were apart and how this might take place in "Outlander" Season 3.

With some scenes in "Voyager" taking place in Boston, many fans wondered if these would be done in "Outlander" Season 3. However, Zap2It notes that showrunner Ron Moore stated in an interview that there will not be any scenes filmed in the U.S. for this season.
