NBA Trade Rumors: Why Should Boston Celtics Trade For Monta Ellis?

Boston Celtics is making steps to improve their roster. According to NBA trade rumors, the team should pursue the Indiana Pacers shooting guard Monta Ellis to add more points to the team, will Celtics do?

According to Inquisitr, Boston Celtics used to be a strong contender in the Eastern Conference and the team is gearing up to give a fierce fight in the upcoming NBA season. If Celtics would unleash their full potential, they could end up in the top four teams.

In view of this, there are rumors that Boston Celtics should pursue Indiana Pacers' shooting guard Monta Ellis. Celtics' priority now is shooting and Ellis is the best fit. "Shooting is always going to be a priority," Brad Stevens said per ESPN.

According to Steve Kyler, Indiana Pacers is willing to trade Monta Ellis but got little to no response from the other NBA teams. Parent Herald previously reported that Pacers is desperate to have Rudy Gay on their roster that they want to trade Ellis and Rodney Stuckey. At the time, there is no progress about this rumor.

However, many believe that Celtics should take this opportunity to have Monta Ellis on their roster. Getting the Pacer's shooting guard will surely improve their score.

Meanwhile, aside from Monta Ellis, Celtics just signed former Atlanta Hawks power forward and center Al Horford in a $113 million deal, ESPN reported. The report notes that Hawks final offer was $136 million for a five-year contract, which many believe is not a max deal. With Horford out in Hawks, the team might halt trade talks involving Paul Millsap.

Also, there are rumors that Celtics is close to signing Cavaliers' free agent J.R. Smith. However, per Parent Herald, Boston might not pursue Smith because he doesn't fit Brad Steven's basketball mantra.

J.R. Smith can be aggressive on the court when it comes to his defense that he is ready to box out and knock down other players. In fact, he was engaged in a chippy game with Jae Crowder. Thus, many believe that despite Smith's performance and excellence to score, Celtics won't be taking a chance on him.

Do you agree that Celtics should sign Monta Ellis? Do you agree that J.R. Smith is too aggressive for the team? Should Boston Celtics open their doors to J.R. Smith or let go of their chance to have the top player in the free agency? Share your thought in the comment section below.
