Another big name football transfer has been completed, as Spanish football star Jesé Rodriguez, departs from Real Madrid FC and will now play for the French club, Paris Saint-Germain, in a 5-year £21 million deal.
The 23- year old has been with Real Madrid since the age of fourteen, starting in the Real Madrid youth system, until making his first team debut for "Los Blancos" in 2012, according to the Daily Mail. Since joining the Spanish League giants, Rodriguez has won six major club titles with Madrid, the most recent being the UEFA Champions League 2015 - 2016.
With only one year left in his contract with Real Madrid, Rodriguez decided to close the deal with Paris Saint- Germain, after he was initially rumored to play for English clubs, Arsenal and Liverpool.
Talking with reporters for Paris Saint-Germain's official website, the Spanish winger/midfielder expressed his excitement in playing for "Les Parisiens" after the contract signing was finished, saying "I am delighted to join Paris Saint-Germain, who have become one of Europe's most competitive clubs", and adding that he and Paris Saint-Germain are working towards the same goal, he welcomes this new challenge in his young career.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the CEO and Chairman of Paris Saint-Germain, also welcomes Rodriguez, saying "I am very happy to welcome Jesé to PSG, over the past seasons, he has confirmed his status as one of Real Madrid's, and Spain's, most promising young footballers.".
With Rodriguez's signing, Paris Saint-German now has acquired five new players over the course of the summer, according to ESPN FC. Other new players who will now don the PSG red and blue alongside Rodriguez, include Grzegorz Krychowiak, Giovani Lo Celso,Thomas Meunier and Hatem Ben Arfa. The new signings will make up for the departure PSG's former star, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is now playing for Manchester United.
Paris Saint-Germain also has a new coach at the helm, as former Sevilla FC manager, Unai Emery, has also made his way to PSG. Emery, Rodriguez, and all of the new faces at Paris Saint-Germain, are expected to lead the French champions to another successful season, as the France Ligue 1 campaign is set to start on August 13, 2016.
