"Sleepy Hollow" has survived the cancellation and was renewed for another season. "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 may not have its co-lead Nicole Beharie, but it has been adding new cast members. Rachel Melvin, Jerry MacKinnon, Oona Yaffe, and Jeremy Davies have signed for recurring roles.
"Justified" star Jeremy Davies has been cast as the new villain in "Sleepy Hollow." According to TVLine, Davies will play as Malcolm Dreyfuss, an eccentric and outspoken tech mogul and a billionaire before he even turned 30. This character represents the opposite of what Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) has been working hard to establish.
Jerry MacKinnon will take on the character Jake Wells, a research analyst who works on cataloging reports of supernatural activities, which he enjoys. According to Deadline, Wells will meet Crane and that would be the beginning of the changes in his life, having a mentor and a friend in Crane. Rachel Melvin will be Alex Norwood who will be working with Wells in the supernatural archives. As a self-taught engineering prodigy, her line would involve artifacts and machines, with the ability to improvise weapons and gadgets.
Oona Yaffe, meanwhile, will play as Diana's (Janina Gavankar) daughter, Molly. She is a creative and athletic 10-year-old. Strong, independent and naturally curious, she will get along easily with Crane. Janina Gavankar has been earlier signed for a quasi-lead role, who will play as the new woman in Crane's life. She's a single mom and a former military officer, currently working as a Secret Service agent.
Will "Sleepy Hollow" survive without Abbie Mills? Fox Entertainment is positive. President David Madden said during the TCA, "Crane (Tom Mison) and Abbie were the spine of the show in a lot of ways, so it was difficult to figure out if it was the right thing to do, to continue or not. But the producers pitched us an array of new characters and new situations for Crane to get into." He also said, "The first seven scripts are really fun. We think there's a lot of good new stories to tell."
"Sleepy Hollow," which is moving its production to Washington, D.C. from upstate New York, is slated to premiere at midseason.
