NBA Rumors: Kristaps Porzingis Demoted; Carmelo Anthony Playing Stretch Four?

New York Knicks are preparing hard for the upcoming NBA season. In fact, they are upgrading their roster and are assigning a new position to their players. According to reports, Carmelo Anthony will now be a stretch four or power forward and many are wondering if this will directly affect his running mate Kristaps Porzingis.

Carmelo Anthony is currently taking the position of small forward but going stretch four is not new to him. Per Michael Pina of Basketball Real GM, Anthony played power forward for the team in 2013 where Knicks won 54 games. Reports are rife that head coach Jeff Hornacek will bring the nine-time All-Star to the same position. Thus, Carmelo Anthony will likely be a stretch four in the upcoming NBA season.

Pina noted that Carmelo Anthony is not the primary option on championship content but he is skilled and talented. Having Anthony play at the four can improve New York's offense.

Meanwhile, Sports Rageous reported that this will demote Kristaps Porzingis to the sixth man. Porzingis is taking the center and power forward position.

With Carmelo Anthony as a stretch four, he will likely have Derrick Rose as the point guard with Lance Thomas and Courtney Lee in the wings. In addition, they will likely have Joakim Noah in the center, leaving Kristaps Porzingis as the sixth man.

Although the said lineup could likely happen, one should still take this report with a grain of salt because it is possible for Knicks to have Carmelo Anthony maintain his small forward position. In addition, the Latvian big man is one of Knicks' asset and they will surely exploit Kristaps Porzingis potentials and allow him to lead the team to the playoffs.

Everyone following Kristaps Porzingis would agree that the player is a star in the making. Knicks have a brighter future with Porzingis on their roster, so they will probably take good care of him

Do you agree that Carmelo Anthony is perfect as a stretch four? Do you believe that Kristaps Porzingis can lead New York Knicks to the playoffs? Will Knicks perform better this time? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
