'World War Z 2' Production, News & Spoilers: Brad Pitt Confirms Movie, Collaborating With 'Gone Girl' Director

We will be seeing a "World War Z 2" after all. Three years after the original "World War Z" became the highest selling entry in Brad Pitt's filmography, we are finally hearing news about "World War Z 2" as it enters into the pre-production phase. David Fincher, who directed Pitt in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "Fight Club," is said to be circling the director's chair, bringing hope to the legions of cinemagoers who enjoyed the first movie.

According to Variety, the two reportedly met two weeks ago to discuss Finch possibly directing "World War Z 2" after initial director J.A. Bayona left the project to helm the next entry in the "Jurassic World" franchise. Finch is allegedly warming up to the idea of directing "World War Z 2" and may reach a final decision in the coming weeks. If he does sign on, it will be his and Pitt's fourth movie together. He has not directed a movie since 2014's "Gone Girl."

In other "World War Z 2" news, Mireille Enos, who played Pitt's wife in the movie and now stars "The Catch" on ABC, has confirmed she will be returning to the sequel, Digital Spy reported. She also fended off sequel cancellation rumors, assuring fans that "World War Z 2" is "definitely happening."

"World War Z 2" is expected to come out in 2018.
