"Pokemon Go" beginners are not quite sure what Pokemon gyms are so here are some tips to help players understand this feature of the game better. Pokemon gyms are where Pokemon monsters are taken after being leveled up.
Pokemon gyms in "Pokemon Go" are specialized locations and are not difficult to miss as they are represented by huge towers. The gyms could be held by one of three teams, which are blue, which is Team Mystic, red, which is Team Valor, and yellow, which is Team Instinct, and players of "Pokemon Go" will be able to distinguish them from the color on top of the tower, Euro Gamer reported.
The team's job is to defend the Pokemon gyms by leaving high-level Pokemons there. If the color of the tower corresponds to a "Pokemon Go" player's team, that is where the monsters of the player can battle. Basically, battling at the Pokemon gyms or defending them let players gain Pokecoins to be used for purchasing items, Mirror reported.
Another thing to remember about Pokemon gyms is the level and prestige. What level means for "Pokemon Go" players is that the level indicated how many slots there are to defend a Pokemon. Five trainers leave a Pokemon at a level five gym. As for prestige, this pertains to the ranking of the Pokemon gym. More prestige means a higher level.
For the main point of the Pokemon gyms in "Pokemon Go," which is battling, a player can activate a battle by tapping the little boxing glove icon when a player gets close enough to the Pokemon gym. One will select a monster then the player will be transferred to an arena. Tapping the screen as fast as a player can is how the monster battles. The blue bars under the Pokemon monster indicates the strength. Once it is full, "Pokemon Go" players could press the screen longer and unleash a more powerful attack against the other monster.
Dodging the attacks of the other Pokemon can be done by swiping left or right. "Pokemon Go" players could also access their backpack to use items such as potions.
To claim another team's Pokemon gym in "Pokemon Go," a player must defeat all the defending Pokemon monsters. As for the Pokecoins, a player could get 10 coins per gym defended.
