Many NBA fans and players are overwhelmed with Michael Jordan's talent and skills on the basketball court and of them is LeBron James. James is very open in his admiration of the living legend MJ and even takes the former Chicago Bulls player as his inspiration in doing well in the NBA league.
Parent Herald previously reported that LeBron James wants to surpass Michael Jordan's success. The NBA MVP last season admits that he is chasing Jordan's ghost in the NBA league. "My motivation is this ghost I'm chasing," James told Sports Illustrated. "The ghost played in Chicago."
NBA fans and critics are divided with LeBron James effort to chase Michael Jordan's success. Some believe that it is possible while others doubt.
According to Bleacher Report, Sam Smith will be the first one to reject LeBron James as the next Michael Jordan. In his book "There Is No Next: NB Legends on the Legacy of Michael Jordan," the former Chicago Tribune reporter stressed that Michael Jordan is unmatched.
Meanwhile, Roland Lazenby has something else to say with regards to LeBron James' goal of chasing Michael Jordan. "Michael owned the game like no one ever has. LeBron doesn't own it like that yet, but he's very close," Lazenby said.
For some, LeBron James has already caught up with Michael Jordan's success. In a separate report from Parent Herald, James signed a $100 million deal with the Cavs for a three-year extension, which made him surpassed MJ as the highest-paid player in a single season.
On a side note, Cleveland.com reported that one more MVP award will elevate LeBron James into a rare position alongside Michael Jordan, Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who are the only players to reach five MVP awards.
However, per Bovada, LeBron James' chances of winning his next MVP in the upcoming season are not as high as your expectations. In the odds released on Monday, James is only listed as third most likely to win the prestigious awards with 5/1 odds.
The report notes that he is trailing behind OKC Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook listed as 2/ 1 and Golden State Warriors' back-to-back recipient Stephen Curry, who is listed as 4/1.
