'The Good Wife' Spinoff Air Date & News: How Alicia Florrick Could Return, According To Christine Baranski

CBS All Access confirmed "The Good Wife" spinoff back in May. After the end of the original series, it has been established that a 10-episode spinoff will be coming to the company's online subscription streaming service in spring 2017.

Christine Baranski will be part of the still untitled "The Good Wife" spinoff, reprising her role as Diane Lockhart and she will be joined by Cush Jumbo, who played Lucca Quinn in the original series. But will Julianna Margulies' Alicia Florrick also return?

Christine Baranski recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter for an update on the production of "The Good Wife" spinoff. Apparently, the timeline of the new show comes a year after the original show left off. The actress said that if and when Margulies appears in the new series, it could happen with "Alicia Florrick in the courtroom with Diane." The statement suggests that Alicia would still be working as a lawyer in a firm that Diane Lockhart will be up against.

But at this point, Christine Baranski can't confirm what "The Good Wife" spinoff is really about, let alone the name of the new series. Work on the show will officially begin in September. "It's all an open possibility," she added, alluding to what else could happen in the spinoff series.

When "The Good Wife" ended, her character Diane Lockhart and Julianna Margulies' Alicia Florrick didn't close things at a good place. Diane slapped Alicia as the latter threw her under the bus so that her husband would not end up in jail.

"She's the one that ends with her integrity intact and Alicia is very compromised," said Baranski However, Julianna Margulies believes that slap showed that Alicia Florrick has grown to be the type who doesn't cower, per Entertainment Weekly.

"The Good Wife" creators Robert and Michelle King previously expressed Alicia Florrick could resurface in the spinoff, if only to give fans some closure between these two beloved characters. "The Good Wife" spinoff on CBS All Access is all new to Christine Baranski,as the process isn't like network television, where they used to shoot 22 episodes. "All I know is I work half as many weeks and that makes me very happy," Baranski stated.
