With all of the drama and hype surrounding the world of mixed martial arts, another interesting story has surfaced. UFC President Dana White has made a statement that former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones might not have taken performance enhancing drugs.
Jon "Bones" Jones, who was well on his way to making a great career comeback as he was to face his bitter rival Daniel Cormier in a light-heavyweight title unification bout at UFC 200, was taken off the main event after he failed an out-of-competition drug test.
Now, Dana White, in an interview with Jim Rome on The Jim Rome Show, has revealed new information about Jones's case with the United States Anti-Doping Association. "Well, it's coming back now that it looks like he did not take the supplement that everybody thought he took," says White. The drug that Jones tested positive for was Hydroxy-clomiphene and Letrozole metabolite, both of which are estrogen blockers, typically used after a cycle of anabolic steroids, according to MMA Fighting.
Jones could've taken something else that triggered the positive drug test, but neither Jones's camp nor the USADA has confirmed anything. In a recent video posted by Jones on his Instagram, "Bones" optimistically said he has good news and that he might be coming back in the UFC Octagon sooner after he puts his legal issues behind him, he also says that he is already back in training, and preparing for his return. If Jones is otherwise found guilty, he will be suspended from fighting for two years per USADA rules.
Although the mixed martial arts world is excited about Jones' being innocent, not everybody is too thrilled about the news. Current UFC light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, and Jones' rival, isn't too happy, because he says that Jones still took something, whether it was a PED or a not, in a recent tweet.
