It looks like "iZombie" Season 3 is going to take the Friday 9 p.m. slot when it returns mid-season on The CW. While the network hasn't announced the show's premiere date, advertisers have apparently been given projections for the upcoming season's slate. "iZombie" creator Rob Thomas also announced that he will be working on a new vampire TV series for the network.
In a report via Variety, "iZombie" Season 3's presumed slot was set on Fridays at 9 p.m. despite no confirmed announcements just yet. The report was released by the news outlet for advertisers to gauge which shows have high commercial potential for the 2016-2017 TV season. Based on this, "iZombie" Season 3 will be taking over "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 2's slot in the mid-season.
Talks about "iZombie" moving to Fridays first surfaced in July when it was established that The CW apparently intends to create a "Horror Night" in its slate, per a previous Parent Herald report. The Friday time slot used to be regarded as a TV death slot, where underperforming shows are scheduled before they are eventually canceled. But this is not the case today.
Fans should have no reason to worry about "iZombie's" status for now. It's forging ahead with 13 solid episodes for the third season, which is what its creator Rob Thomas wants.
Speaking of Rob Thomas, the writer and director has recently taken on a new project with The CW on top of his commitments to "iZombie." Thomas is going to oversee the development of "The Lost Boys" for the small screen. The show is based off the movie that starred Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Patric, Corey Feldman and Corey Haim in the 80s.
Per Deadline, "The Lost Boys" is being prepared as a replacement to "The Vampire Diaries" which will bow out of television for good in May 2017. "The Lost Boys" is about a group of gangsters who are actually vampires. Casting announcements have not been made for now.
