'The Last Of Us 2’ News & Update: 'TLOU' Ending Clue On Bleak Ellie, Joel Sequel? Could Naughty Dog, Neil Druckmann Still Release Ish ‘TLOU’ DLC?

"The Last Of Us 2" is happening but Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann fans should take the cue from "TLOU" ending to prepare for the Ellie (Ashley Johnson) and Joel (Troy Baker) sequel release. Meanwhile, could "The Last Of Us" fans still see an Ish "TLOU" DLC from Naughty Dog?

The idea of "The Last Of Us" DLC on Ish came from speculation by Hypable that Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann may be bringing out the story on a character that Ellie and Joel "encountered" in "The Suburbs" of "TLOU." Although Joel and Ellie never met Ish and his group face to face, "The Last Of Us" protagonists knew of them from several notes found in this particular "TLOU" chapter.

Ish, and eventually his group, took refuge at the mouth of the Pittsburgh sewer and from there built a growing community. As "The Last Of Us" is given to realism, the community came under attack and the fate of Ish and a few surviving community members was left unknown.

Hypable took the cue from a Reddit interview with "The Last Of Us" creator Neil Druckmann and Naughty Dog game director Bruce Straley called "Ask Me Anything." Bruce Straley teased that Naughty Dog had a "The Last Of US" single player DLC coming out. "There's stuff in the pipe... to be talked about soon-ish... hang in there!" Bruce Straley said.

Analysis by Hypable pointed out that the reference to "pipe" could be a reference to Ish's home in the sewers and the Ish hint comes from the use of "soon-ish" in the statement. Although Naughty Dog did eventually release "The Last Of Us: Left Behind," a DLC on Ellie and Riley, a "TLOU" DLC on Ish and the sewer group has fan interest.

Although "The Last Of Us" DLC on Ish is wishful thinking for now, the Reddit interview did reveal the mindset behind why "TLOU" had the ending it was given. Both Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley explained that "The Last Of Us" had to give Joel and Ellie an honest and organic ending.

This indicates that "The Last Of Us 2" will not bring Ellie and Joel back (if they will be back) in an environment of sunshine and daisies. If anything, "The Last Of Us 2" should naturally be a darker world for Ellie, Joel or any other new character that Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann will bring in.
