‘Wentworth’ Season 5 Air Date News & Update: Hope Mixed In S5 Even While Bea Smith Death Proved No Character Is Safe?

"Wentworth" Season 5 from Foxtel will tread on delicate balance as S4 finale violence culminated in the death of prison queen Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack). Admittedly, the "Wentworth" series never pretended to be anything other than a realistic depiction of high-stakes and violence in prison life.

In the past, the shocking violence portrayed in "Wentworth" episodes caused concern not just among viewers but also among cast members, including Danielle Cormack. Although the "Wentworth" series, Danielle Cormack for one, took great care in handling the issues tackled by show the main theme of the Foxtel offering in itself required shock effect in their portrayal.

Nonetheless Danielle Cormack, before the death of Bea Smith, highlighted the importance of incorporating hope, joy and even relief into "Wentworth" storylines between episodes of suffering, violence and danger. Speaking to After Ellen, Danielle Cormack pointed out that these are elements that women inside prison, as Bea Smith depicted in the "Wentworth" series, experience despite the difficulties in their environment.

Danielle Cormack qualified that the "Wentworth" series took a harder realism than other prison shows tended to portray. According to Danielle Cormack, the distribution of cliffhangers and unexpected situations are what set the "Wentworth" series apart.

Bea Smith and the other inmates of Wentworth never had time to sit around and think. The characters usually only had short moments of respite before the "Wentworth" series threw them another punch.

"Wentworth" Season 5, therefore, will not likely give the inmates too long to mourn Bea Smith or to ponder the implications of the impending change in leadership. As with the other seasons, "Wentworth" Season 5 will pull the rug from under the Foxtel series cast's feet before the last drop of blood from Bea Smith dries up where S4 snuffed her life.

Yet, as Danielle Cormack explained, "Wentworth" Season 5 will also bring hope and rare occasions of happiness into the mix. Although Foxtel has yet to announce the firm "Wentworth Season 5" premiere date in May 2017 bets are already being hedged on the fallout of eliminating Bea Smith with S4.
