Despite the fact that "Scandal" season 6 won't be airing until early 2017, the excitement on what's in store for the upcoming season can't be contained. While pregnant actress Kerry Washington (Olivia Pope) and the rest of the Gladiators are still enjoying their vacation, ABC has recently released a promotional video, promising the return of the "Scandal" team next year.
It is already a given fact that "Scandal" season 6 won't be a part of ABC's Thursday-night lineup as other television series make a Fall TV premiere soon. According to CarterMatt, the network's newest political drama show, "Notorious," will be making use of "Scandal" timeslot while other hit ABC series, "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 and "How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 are also set to premiere this September.
Fortunately, ABC's promotional video with a hashtag #TGIT revealed that "Scandal" season 6 will definitely be back with a bang! But according to People, "Notorious" will be a "perfect companion" for all Gladiator fans this fall, not to mention it's the first TV series in three years that was given a Thursday night slot not produced by Shonda Rhimes.
As for what to expect in "Scandal" season 6 next year, Christian Post suggested that Mellie might be losing her dream to be a POTUS or the "President of the United States." Based on the previous spoiler reports, Cyrus (Jeff Perry) is planning to "cheat" to make Democratic presidential nominee Frankie (Ricardo Chavira) win and letting the Republican team of Mellie lose.
Since Cyrus is the former chief-of-staff of ex-U.S. President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn), Mellie already knew that the vice presidential candidate was a "schemer," who will make sure that Frankie won't be an easy opponent. But in spite of the cheating threats, Ecumenical News noted that Mellie believes she will win the elections in "Scandal" season 6.
"Empire" season 6 star Bellamy Young, however, admitted to Variety that Cyrus is a monster and will try everything he could to put dirt on everyone. Young also revealed that the election in the upcoming season will be a "bloodbath."
Meanwhile, "Scandal" season 6 will reportedly premiere as part of ABC's midseason TV show listing in January 2017 but a previous Parent Herald report revealed the series' air date will be on Feb. 11. While the episodes have been reduced due to Washington's pregnancy, it will still retain its usual 9 p.m. Thursday night timeslot.
