‘Pokémon GO’ Guide Tips & Tricks On Using Catch Chance Calculator To Improve Your Pokémon Capture

There are times when "Pokémon GO" players struggle with catching Pokémon, especially rare ones. A new catch calculator addresses this issue and helps trainers determine their likelihood of capturing specific Pokémon type.

The "Pokémon GO" Catch Chance Calculator was created by Poké Assistant and is largely based on the kind of Poké Balls players used and the color of the ring surrounding the Pokémon ready for capture. Players need to indicate the type of Pokémon they want to catch on the tool, and then select the Poké Ball they will use: a regular Poké Ball, a Great Ball, or an Ultra Ball.

Afterward, "Pokémon GO" players can tinker with the radar ring's size and color bars to determine the best possible moment to throw a Poké Ball and succeed in capturing the Pokémon. This information will be displayed in a visual representation.

The rings on the calculator symbolize the Pokémon's level. Higher CP Pokémon has red or orange rings around them, indicating that they are harder to catch. Green and yellow ones have lower levels and are easier to capture.

According to a report from Heavy, it's best to throw the Poké Ball as the ring gets closer to the Pokémon. For instance, trying to capture a level eight Charmander (using a regular Poké Ball) with the ring halfway closed yields a 30 percent catch chance.

Some players would probably dismiss Poké Assistant's catch chance calculator and they would likely go ahead and try to catch a Charmeleon whether they have a one percent or 33 percent likelihood of capturing the creature. "Pokémon GO" Players who are more calculating and systematic, however, would largely benefit from the tool. After all, knowing how catching Pokémon works is a welcome addition to your arsenal, improving your progress in the game and be the best trainer of them all.

Poké Assistant's tool also found that throwing a Poké Ball when the ring is small yields the same success as when Ultra Balls are used. Ultra Balls are currently the best Poké Ball in "Pokémon GO" and has the highest capture rate, RankedBoost noted.

Parent Herald previously reported about the best Poké Ball throwing techniques to successfully catch Pokémon. This includes using "The L Throw" and the Curve Ball methods, which yields special bonuses. Throwing a Razz Berry on the Pokémon you're trying to catch would increase your chances of capturing it as well.
