As the 2016- 2107 NBA season draws near, Rumors are now circulating around the league of Philadelphia 76ers big man Jahlil Okafor being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Thunder guards Oscar Roberson and Cameron Payne.
There has been plenty of drama surrounding the Oklahoma City Thunder during the summer, first the departure of starting power forward Serge Ibaka, then followed by the high profile trade of Thunder superstar Kevin Durant. The former NBA most valuable player, who signed with Western Conference champions, the Golden State Warriors, left the Oklahoma ball club with plenty of bitterness between him and his teammates especially with long-time teammate Russell Westbrook.
The future of Oklahoma City Thunder is starting to look a little bit brighter, though, as Westbrook has extended his contract with the Thunder in a three-year $85 million deal, according to SB Nation. Oklahoma is also looking to add more depth to their roster with the trade for Jahlil Okafor, as the 76ers' big man averages 17 points, 7 rebounds and, 1.2 blocks per game. Okafor would make a decent pairing at power forward or center position with Thunder center Steven Adams.
The rumors state that the trade for Jahlil Okafor would come at the expense of two of the Oklahoma City Thunder's guards, Oscar Roberson and Cameron Payne. With the recent trade for Victor Oladipo with the Thunder's Serge Ibaka, Oklahoma now was another guard to partner up with Westbrook for the Thunder's back court. The move to trade two of their guards for an all-around big man would make perfect sense for the Thunder who are looking to once be one of the top contenders in the NBA.
The supposed trades would help both the Philadelphia 76ers and the Thunder help put together their squad for the upcoming season, says Sportsrageous.
