NFL Trade Rumors: San Francisco 49ers Release Quarterback Collin Kaepernick? Might Transfer to Cowboys

Collin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers has been the center of plenty of attention over the last few days due to a pre-game protest, and now there are rumors circulating the 49ers quarterback might be released from the team, and will be picked up by the Dallas Cowboys.

Finishing last int their division and 5th overall in the NFL during the 2015 regular season, the San Francisco 49ers have been one of the poorest performing teams in the league, with only 5 wins throughout the entire season. Kaepernick as the quarterback of the 49ers has also seen a decrease in his playing standard, finishing the 2015 season with only a 59% completion rate, 6 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions.

Kaepernick was also put under much scrutiny when the San Francisco 49ers played one of their pre-season games against the Green Bay packers, Kaepernick was seen sitting down and refusing to participate during the singing of the national anthem before kickoff.

According to Jon Glazer of Fox Sports, Kaepernick could be seen off of the 49ers squad, not because of his protest but due to his declining performance in games, saying that he's facing an uphill battle just to make the first offensive line. Citing Kaepernick's decrease in weight and size over the off-season due to multiple surgeries, Glazer says that he would be surprised if the 28-year-old could make in the first two games of the season.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys who are currently an equally struggling team, are in need of a new quarterback, as their lead man, Tony Romo, is out for the rest of the season due to an injury. The Cowboys' rookie back up QB, Dak Prescott, is set to make his first starter debut but the Dallas team will still need an experienced quarterback, and according to Sportsrageous, Kaepernick may be the perfect man for the job if the 49ers do indeed release him.
