Fans already know by now that Justin Hartley might be leaving "The Young and the Restless," at least temporarily. Will there be a recast for Adam Newman? Rumors have it that Michael Muhney might return.
Justin Hartley is starring in a new season on NBC, "This Is Us," that is yet to premiere this September. In line with that, the actor has admitted that he would need to take a break from "The Young and the Restless" while he shifts his focus on his primetime drama. Y&R spoilers via Celebrity Dirty Laundry suggest that if ever Hartley leaves, Michael Muhney will better take over the role he once held in from 2009 to 2014. He is a logical recast and an overwhelming fan choice to play Adam Newman again.
Whether it's Michael Muhney who will fill in as Adam or not, it looks like Justin Hartley's departure is imminent. He said he will try to do both shows, but given the popularity "This Is Us" is getting even before its debut, the actor will have to choose. Y&R seems to be aware of that and is already looking for his replacement. In an earlier report from CDL, citing Soaps In Depth, Y&R has made a casting call, which looked like a disguise for Adam Newman.
The character is called Dean, but the descriptions all match Adam Newman. They are looking for a mid-30s Caucasian man from a rich family, with an experience in the effects of greed, which he tries to go against.
If Justin's leave will be temporary, maybe "The Young and the Restless" would use his recent storyline to remove him from the canvass for a while. Adam Newman has recently escaped from the prison and is on the run with Chelsea and Connor.
Who do you think should play Adam Newman in the absence of Justin Hartley? Would you like Michael Muhney to return?
"The Young and the Restless" airs every weekday at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
