A mom's Facebook post about Babies "R" Us is going viral on the internet. She shared that she had a humiliating experience in the establishment after trying to return a couple of items. She won't be able to use these items because she suffered a miscarriage, but Babies 'R' Us apparently mishandled her request.
The story of Jessica Huchko from Connecticut has since elicited many comments and reactions on Facebook. The mom relayed that when she bought a car seat and stroller at Babies "R" Us a few months prior, it never crossed her mind that she would lose her baby, thus she no longer had the receipts.
But taking a chance in returning the items, she was able to talk to a salesperson who was nice enough to assist her request, especially after learning the reason why she had to do this in the first place. "I said, my son passed away a couple weeks ago and I cannot keep them," Huchko wrote. The items have not been opened and are still in their boxes.
However, the process took several minutes to be verified in the store's system and that's when the manager stepped in to "help." Jessica Huchko was feeling all kinds of emotions already, due to the grief of losing a child and having to do the returns of the baby's things at the store, as other customers have been milling about.
But she felt more humiliated when, after learning that the equipment had already been discontinued, the manager offered Jessica Huchko a refund of only $.2 cents. "It was worse than a slap in the face," said the mom, via WFTV. Below is a complete account of Jessica Huchko's experience with Babies "R" Us.
Responding to the incident, Babies "R" Us said that they are already trying to settle the refund with Huchko. In a statement to the press, the company apologized to the offended mother for the way she was treated and for the loss of her child.
"The store leadership has provided coaching to the team members to help ensure similar situations are handled with more care in the future," the statement read, per Fox 6 Now. Learn more about her story in the video below.
