New 'Harry Potter' Movie: Daniel Radcliffe Doing 'Cursed Child' For Big Screen? Warner Bros Responds To Rumors

A new "Harry Potter" movie is supposedly in the works at Warner Bros with Daniel Radcliffe reprising the role of the iconic wizard. Allegedly, the studio has plans to develop the stage play "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" into another trilogy. But Warner Bros has immediately clarified on the real score of the rumors.

It was New York Daily News that first came out with the story about a new "Harry Potter" movie. Warner Bros. supposedly plans to have "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" in theaters by 2020 with Daniel Radcliffe in mind for the lead. Will he be willing to do it again?

Daniel Radcliffe played the character of Harry Potter on the big screen for almost decade. The franchise spawned eight blockbuster films. After the final movie was released, the actor expressed his desire to distance himself from the character and he has since gone on to do movies in different genres and themes.

Yet the actor apparently isn't closing all doors to playing Harry Potter again. He said he might consider donning his magician robe again, for the right script. "The circumstances would have to be pretty extraordinary," he said, per Radio Times.

But as soon as reports came out regarding a new "Harry Potter" movie, Warner Bros implied that the original report had no bearing. Huffington Post reports that a studio representative confirmed that there are no plans to do "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" for the big screen. It remains a stage play production, which is currently running at London's West End. There are plans to bring the play to Broadway next season, per the New York Post.

"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" is set several years after Harry and his friends have moved on from Hogwarts and are now working adults with their own families. Central to the story is Harry's relationship with his middle child, Albus, who is also learning to become a wizard just like his dad, but is rebelling against his wishes.
