Golden State Warriors is the strongest contender in the NBA league today. This fact remains even if Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Warriors in the NBA finals last season. But how long will GSW be able to keep its ideal roster?
At the time, Golden State Warriors have four NBA All-Star in its lineup, including Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Kevin Durant. By just looking at these names, one will probably agree that the Warriors are hard to beat.
However, the team's unity is plagued with controversy. Draymond Green just slammed Klay Thompson for not being a sport after they lost to Cleveland Cavaliers in the last NBA finals. Thompson went straight to their locker and did not take the time to congratulate LeBron James and the rest of the Cavs player who deserve the victory.
In another instance, there are rumors that Stephen Curry slammed Kevin Durant. The two-time MVP reportedly texted the former OKC Thunder when he learned that Durant is joining the super team that his only concern is to have more wins in the upcoming NBA season.
At the time, there are rumors that Stephen Curry will be joining Charlotte Hornets but per Johnny Auping it is unlikely for Curry to leave the super team now. However, this might change depending on the GSW's ran this NBA season.
Per Sports Rageous if Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry's tandem fails to deliver another NBA title to the Golden State Warriors, the team could lose both. Curry and Durant might join another team in the next NBA season.
In 2017, Stephen Curry will hit the free agency. Curry is only paid $12.1 million for the next season and it is not yet final if he will re-sign with the Warriors if they come short of the championship this season. Reports are rife that Stephen Curry might join Hornets as he attended high school there and his father, Dell Curry played for the team for 10 years.
Meanwhile, chances are high that Kevin Durant will also explore the free agency again. If Durant doesn't find his perfect place in GSW, there are more teams to try on or maybe he can reunite with Russell Westbrook in OKC Thunder again. Thus, Golden State Warriors may lose both basketball superstars.
What do you think is this scenario likely to happen? Do you agree that Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant will leave the Golden State Warriors after this season if things don't turn out well? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
