Amazon's "Jack Ryan" has been confirmed for a 10-episode offering last August. Starring John Krasinski in the titular iconic role, "Jack Ryan" is expected to draw in subscribers for the streaming service. There's also a lot of expectations from the show, especially from those familiar with character from the Tom Clancy novels. Actor John Krasinski acknowledged that it will not be easy to play a role he describes as America's James Bond.
John Krasinski understands that there is pressure in doing the role of Jack Ryan because it has been played by many actors before him, such as Harrison Ford, Alec Baldwin, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine. "Obviously I'm terrified to fill the shoes of all these great actors," he told Harper's Bazaar in an exclusive interview.
He also noted that he's more challenged to be in "Jack Ryan" because he sees the character as the American James Bond. But on the plus side, the actor is also excited to assume the role because "Jack Ryan" will put a different spin on the character. More so, the series isn't also going to be airing as a traditional television show.
John Krasinski said that "Jack Ryan" was pitched to him as a 10-part movie with a different storyline every season. He also praised show creator Carlton Cuse for his vision. Forbes notes on Cuse's ability to deliver a "competent series," and with his record for producing TV shows, "Jack Ryan" will no doubt be managed by someone with an expert mind.
Also helping Cuse in developing "Jack Ryan" for Amazon is Graham Roland, who will co-write the scripts. Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are also working behind the scenes as producers, per The Hollywood Reporter. Between these industry experts, there's a lot of creativity and resources to go around, thus many are anticipating that the "Jack Ryan" series will be a high-quality and highly-anticipated production.
Filming for "Jack Ryan" is supposed to start in the fall. The launch date on Amazon has yet to be confirmed, but it could be slated in the fall of 2017. Stay tuned!
