"Daredevil" Season 3 isn't expected to return on Netflix until 2018, but star Charlie Cox already has ideas on who he thinks his superhero character should be working with. The actor believes Danny Rand from "Iron Fist" will make a good partner for Daredevil. Incidentally, they will actually come together in the upcoming Netflix series "The Defenders."
Charlie Cox was on a panel at the Toronto Fan Expo recently when he spoke about "Daredevil," "Iron Fist" and "The Defenders." He was asked about who he's most eager to team up with, and among Netflix's Marvel superheroes, he singled out Danny Rand, who is also known as the "Iron Fist."
The character is played by Finn Jones, whom Charlie Cox has already met. "I just think in the comics, that's a great relationship so I want to see how that works out on screen," said Cox via Comic Book Movie. Watch his whole statement in the video below.
In the Marvel comics series, Danny Rand was actually hired to pose as Daredevil when the latter's alter ego, Matt Murdoch, was thrown in jail. According to Screen Rant, when Murdoch learned that someone else was posing as his superhero identity, he broke out of prison to challenge him.
However, when Matt Murdoch found out that Danny Rand was actually Iron Fist posing as Daredevil, he then offered that they become partners. Danny would continue donning the Daredevil mask, while Matt tries to solve the murder of his friend, Foggy Nelson.
Now, the Netflix series is still far along from this storyline and the TV show usually takes liberties in changing the plots and timelines from its comic source. It's not yet certain if "Daredevil" will go down this path as Season 3 won't begin production yet.
At the moment, Charlie Cox and Finn Jones are scheduled to work on "The Defenders" for Netflix, which will be released in late 2017. Jones is also busy with "Iron Fist," which will be released ahead of "The Defenders" on the streaming site. Stay tuned for more updates about these shows.
