Players who are waiting for the "Pokemon GO" Buddy Pokemon System update for both the Android and iOS stores are in for a big surprise. Part of the update will allow Niantic to kill support for rooted or jailbroken devices.
The Buddy Pokemon System will provide a different feel to the game as it will allow players to set a specific Pokemon to be the player's friend. This Pokemon will become your official companion as you stay on the menu screen and will also be with you as you earn extra candies when you walk around.
Niantic's aim is to make "Pokemon GO" free of cheating. As players can easily install alternative tracking apps that can help them find different Pokemon, players are able to cheat by leveling up quickly. According to Forbes, the possible release of "Pokemon GO Plus" that will come out next week will have rooted devices that can benefit players even further.
While the move of Niantic towards reducing the cheating in the game of "Pokemon GO" is for the good of the game but it is also putting off some players who are mostly dedicated to playing "Pokemon GO." Some are even saying that they will stop playing "Pokemon GO" if the alternative apps are stopped.
"We continue to focus on eliminating bots and scrapers from Pokemon GO," Niantic's official announcement said about the new Buddy System. "Rooted or jailbroken devices are not supported by Pokemon GO. Remember to download Pokemon GO from the official Google Play Store or iTunes App Store only."
Pokemon Go Live also released that the Buddy Pokemon System is still in the process of being updated for Android and iOS devices and while the update provides positive responses from players it will still be hard to tell on whether it could curb players from finding alternative means to make playing "Pokemon GO" easier for players.
