Philadelphia 76ers player Nerlens Noel will reportedly be coming to Boston Celtics and the latter team will be sending Marcus Smart in exchange for the power forward and center.
This is not the first time that Noel has been linked to Boston Celtics but this marks the first for Smart being mentioned in the trade rumors. Sportsrageous reported that this latest trade rumor makes the most sense for both teams since the Boston Celtics acquiring Noel will make them have an athletic rim protector while the Philadelphia 76ers acquiring Smart means that they would have a regular point guard.
iSportsTimes also reported that Smart is a promising guard but he cannot show off all of his skills and capabilities since he plays as back up to Isaiah Thomas in Boston Celtics. If he goes to Philadelphia 76ers, it could help him greatly so the NBA team will most likely benefit from him. He could play alongside Ben Simmons if the trade would take place and push through. He could also play alongside Joel Embiid if he will be able to prove that he is the point guard that the Philadelphia 76ers badly need.
Philadelphia 76ers letting go of Noel is the smartest move that they can do since their front positions are crowded. Jahlil Okafor has been on the trade block as well but Philadelphia 76ers is reportedly more willing to trade Noel rather than Okafor. Another possible player that Philadelphia 76ers wants to acquire is Minnesota Timberwolves player, Ricky Rubio. However, the team has to wait before he becomes available.
Noel has been linked to other teams such as Cleveland Cavaliers. It was reported before that Kevin Love will be coming to Philadelphia 76ers as he could help the team to be a top contender in the upcoming 2016-2017 NBA season. Also, Noel is deemed as a great fit for the Cleveland Cavaliers and could play well than Love alongside Kyrie Irving and LeBron James.
More on Boston Celtics, they could also reportedly deal Avery Bradley but he is much more important than Smart when it comes to being a perimeter defender.
These rumors are yet to be confirmed.
