Dark days, it seems, are in store for fan favorite Carol Peletier, a character that "The Walking Dead" viewers have grown to love based on her incredible growth over the past six seasons. Based on recent words, her actress Melissa McBride let slip for the upcoming "The Walking Dead" season 7.
McBride recently had an interview with Comic Book, as reported by NME, where she spoke of what might happen to her character Carol Peletier in the upcoming season 7 of AMC's "The Walking Dead." In the interview, McBride revealed that Carol might be having some internal struggles in the later episodes due to the recent events.
Yet it was the ominous phrasing of one of McBride's statements that provoked some major speculations in "The Walking Dead" fanbase. Noting of what Carol might do in "The Walking Dead" season 7, McBride said that "she's definitely got some healing to do in her mind and where she wants to be on this earth, or she wants to stick around or what."
Focusing on the last part of her sentence, McBride's words opens up a lot of dark possibilities for her character in "The Walking Dead" season 7. A more optimistic presumption is that Carol could simply end up having to make the tough decision of whether "she wants to stick around" with Rick's group or not; meaning she could just end up leaving the main group behind and strike out on her own.
A much darker possibility is that McBride's words of "healing to do in her mind" could actually refer to psychological and mental issues brought about by what could happen in season 7 of "The Walking Dead." In the show's source material, the comics version of Carol ends up going insane and severely depressed due to a string of unfortunate events, culminating in her eventual suicide.
AMC's "The Walking Dead" television series took a much more different direction for the character, turning her into one of toughest characters in the show's history with a willingness to do the hard choice and the cunning to back it up. Yet throughout all those, some decisions have been hard than others with the ones in "The Walking Dead" season 7 possibly pushing her to her limit.
It could be possible that in the upcoming season of "The Walking Dead," the amount of pressure on Carol could eventually end up breaking her just like her comic series counterpart. Until "The Walking Dead" season 7 begins Oct. 23 however, fans can only speculate.
