After Iman Shumpert was charged with driving under the influence and drug possession, reports have surfaced saying that Cleveland Cavaliers does not want anything to do with the player. Rumors are now swirling claiming that Cleveland Cavaliers is giving Shumpert up to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Ricky Rubio.
In a report by Sportsrageous, the Cleveland Cavaliers guard was arrested in Georgia in August due to a lane change violation, which eventually led to the aforementioned charges. As per the sources familiar with the matter, due to the fact that the Minnesota Timberwolves brought in Kris Dunn and having Zach LaVine in the team has lowered the chances of Rubio playing for the team in the upcoming NBA 2016-2017 season.
Sources have been swirling in the past weeks claiming that Rubio is coming to Cleveland Cavaliers and the main person involved in the trade is Shumpert because the DUI and the drug possession charges resulted in him being suspended. Shumpert left the home of a female friend when he was caught by law enforcement officials. As per the police report, it was noticed that a strong odor consistent with burnt marijuana was coming from the vehicle. Shumpert also failed a sobriety test.
NBA policies say that Shumpert should be facing months of suspension as well as his team. The guard will also most possibly join the training camp of the Cleveland Cavaliers because of the incident. This is where Rubio will be coming in handy since he could work alongside Kyrie Irving.
Shumpert is also plagued with cheating rumors. He shares a 10-month-old baby with Teyana Taylor, the woman in the "Fade" video of Kanye West. Despite the cheating reports, the NBA star and Taylor remain to be together and have taken to Instagram to post photos showing that they are still a couple, E! News reported.
Shumpert took to Instagram to post photos addressing the cheating rumors but deleted them. In one of his posts, he said that people should direct the hate at him and not at Taylor. He also said that he and Taylor will be together for their daughter and her future siblings. The two are engaged.
