Kerry Washington and her husband, former NFL pro Nnamdi Asomugha, are expecting their second child. The actress graced the 2016 Emmys with her appearance and talked about her pregnancy, which she showed off while wearing a strapless black dress that highlighted her growing baby bump.
In an interview with ET, Washington revealed that she is feeling a "little bit of anxiety" over her second pregnancy because she grew up as an only child. The "Scandal" star, however, was quick to assure that she's feeling "fantastic" and "happy" despite being anxious over her growing baby. In a separate interview with ET last June, Washington said that her whole family feels "really excited" over the pregnancy.
Washington and Asomugha are already parents to a 2-year-old girl named Isabelle. The couple doesn't know their second baby's gender yet, with Washington saying that the only thing they want is for their second child to be "healthy" and "happy," ET further reveals.
Though she and Asomugha are still clueless about the baby's gender, the couple has already thought of names, Washington revealed during a recent appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," E! reports. As for how she hides her baby bump while filming the hit ABC political thriller, the 39-year-old actress said that they are using "big coats, big bags ... [and] different body parts of other actors ... Also lamps!"
Washington said that her first and second pregnancies differ from each other, though she didn't divulge details as to how she came to that conclusion, according to CBS News. Aside from juggling her "Scandal" commitments and her second pregnancy, Washington is also busy in designing handbags that will support victims of domestic violence.
Washington is collaborating with some big names in the fashion industry -- Tory Burch and Christian Louboutin -- for the project, which is a part of Allstate Foundation's Purple Purse initiative, Harpers Bazaar reports. One hundred percent of the project's proceeds will benefit almost 200 domestic violence non-profit organizations across the United States.
Washington is also executive producer of a new drama for ABC titled "Patrol," Variety relays. The TV series will center on four female LAPD officers who will reconnect with each other after a traumatic secret comes back threatening to uproot their lives.
The sixth season of "Scandal," on the other hand, will premiere midseason on the 2016-17 TV schedule. The shift was done to accommodate Washington's pregnancy, according to a separate report from Variety.
