Belgian star striker, Romelu Lukaku, was supposed to depart his current club, English side, Everton, for a possible transfer to Juventus FC, or a return home to former club, Chelsea. Instead, the 23-year-old decided to stay in Everton, where he will likely finish the season.
Romelu Lukaku has steadily made a name for himself as a scoring machine, being one of only 5 players to score 50 Premier League goals before his 23rd birthday back in May, and now has numerous big name clubs chasing after him. But according to Lukaku's agent, Mino Raiola, the striker will continue to play for Everton until the next summer.
Lukaku who was the top goal scorer for Everton with 18 goals in the 2015-2016 Premier League season has no plans on leaving the club, says his agent, Raiola, in an interview with the Daily Mail. Rail says that Lukaku was currently very happy with his team, and was not for sale at the moment, despite the big teams that were giving him offers for a transfer.
According to ESPN FC, Raiola has stated that only a few clubs outside of England could afford his client, Lukaku, saying that they turned down the Juventus offer because they would not be able to willingly pay for Lukaku's transfer fee. Raiola went on to say that the clubs that could afford him in Europe would be Paris St. Germain, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich.
For now, Lukaku would like to see how far they can go this season with Everton, after finishing outside of the top ten in the Premier League, in 11th place, in the previous year. Currently, Everton sits in 2nd place with 4 wins and 1 draw in 5 games. It is still early in the season, but Everton nonetheless would like to keep this momentum going, and if their star striker stays in his current playing form, Everton could very well be in contention for the Premier League trophy.
