The Toronto Raptors showed a lot last season, entering the playoffs even reaching up to the Eastern Conference Finals against the powerhouse Cleveland Cavaliers. As of the moment, the Raptors are ready to compete as they look for a way to upgrade their current roster.
According to the Digital Journal, the Raptors are reportedly trying to acquire Kelly Olynyk from the Celtics. Though the Raptors already acquired the rookie Jakob Peoltl and Pascal Siakam via NBA draft with Jared Sullinger coming from the free agency, the organization are still looking for other options for the frontcourt position.
As per Yibada reported, a basketball analyst suggested via ESPN trade machine that the Raptors can acquire Kelly Olynyk by sending ucas Nogueira and Delon Wright to the Celtics. With this trade scenario, Delon Wright can provide bench depth using his decent shooting and playmaking skills, while Noguiera is also a good backup center due to his wingspan.
If acquired by the Raptors, Kelly Olynyk can help stretch the floor for DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry. He can a good mix with the 2nd unit as well. Olynyk is a potential backup scorer, with his inside play and a decent shooting outside the arc, Olynyk has the potential to become one of the best role players in the NBA.
Olynyk averaged 9.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 assits during his first 3 seasons with the Boston Celtics. Kelly Olynyk was ruled out because of a shoulder injury but is expected to be available before the 2016-2017 NBA season starts.
Still, this hangs as an NBA trade rumors, but its likely to be an efficient one for both teams. If these NBA trade rumors turn to reality, Kelly Olynyk will be reuniting with his hometown in Canada, playing with the more powerful Toronto Raptors.
