The "Mulan" live-action remake has sent the internet into a frenzy. Fans of the Disney animation has high hopes for the new project, with some even starting a petition this early for Disney to make smart casting choices for the new flick.
As MTV reported, 100,000 concerned fans have started an online petition after rumors surfaced that "Hunger Games" star Jennifer Lawrence and "Bad Neighbors" star Zac Efron will play the roles of Mulan and Li Shang respectively. Hollywood always has a tendency to whitewash the media by casting Caucasian actors and actresses to play roles of involving other races.
Proving that "Mulan" fans don't want the Disney to mess up the live-action remake, many supported the petition created by Natalie Molnar. Disney has yet to comment on the petitions, and it has yet to cast the lead roles for the upcoming project.
Meanwhile, Movie Pilot has offered some viable candidates for the role of Mulan in the upcoming live-action remake. Leading the race is Jamie Chung who already portrayed the well-loved character on ABC's "Once Upon a Time." Other choices for the role are Chinese actresses Zhang Ziyi and Fan Bingbing, singer Celina Jade, half Taiwanese actress Katrina Law, Chinese-American Malese Jow and Japanese actress and "Pacific Rim" star Rinko Kikuchi.
The "Mulan" live-action remake has been confirmed in early 2015. While no release date has been set as of writing, reports are claiming that the upcoming Disney project is already in its early development stages.
