The third season premiere of "NCIS: New Orleans" finally hit, and it shows how the team is reeling with the news that longtime friend Brody (Zoe McLellan) has finally departed with newcomer Tammy Gregorio (Vanessa Ferlito) arriving to take her place.
According to a Spoiler TV recap of the "NCIS: New Orleans" season 3 premiere, the team is feeling the effects of Brody's absence hard. The main case in the premiere episode had the team deal with a serial sniper, who has been shown capable of making sure he stays undetected and unnoticed when setting up and escaping.
The "NCIS: New Orleans" episode also marked the arrival of Gregorio, an FBI agent assigned to handle and assist the NCIS team due to their troubles apprehending the sniper. Unfortunately, the team's first encounter with her in the "NCIS: New Orleans" season 3 premiere was less than ideal and her abrasive and overbearing approach only coupled with everyone's grief at Brody's departure.
Fortunately for Gregorio, the whole case with the sniper managed to allow her to show off her own sniping skills from her FBI training and earning at least part of the team's trust and respect. The "NCIS: New Orleans" season 3 premiere ended with Gregorio on better footing with her new coworkers, although the rest of the team still aren't all too willing to let Brody go just yet.
As for Brody herself, TV Line previously reported the character was officially written out due to the events of the previous season. The final leg the previous season of "NCIS: New Orleans" featured Brody becoming compromised after it was revealed that her friend John Russo was the Homeland Security agent who had been assisting the very same terrorist plot Brody was working to stop.
Many are concerned as to the reality of the decision to write out McLellan's character, with some suggesting it might have been due to more pressing real-life issues. Without any official word, however, "NCIS: New Orleans" fans can only wait if the writers decide to bring her back.
