The big-budgeted series "The Get Down" did not get down to the audience, hence, it might be canceled. Well, something made with a lot of money does not always end up being beautifully crafted.
"The Get Down" is about hip-hop in the 1970s. Though this is a new concept, people did not take it well enough to have its second season. It is said to have cost "at least $20 million," according to Variety. A third party research showed that the season it did not sit well with the audience.
It has been noted that the show "is probably the only show right now that celebrates Africa-American history," according to the Gamers Drop. Will the show being canceled make Netflix racist? Though it is a relatively new idea, the show being canceled might not mean that the streaming provider is racist, it might just mean that the show is not bringing enough money in the house.
The series was just released in August this year, airing six episodes. And research shows "The Get Down" did not fair enough as "Orange is the New Black" and "Fuller House." The Sony Pictures Television series was critiqued as being canceled because of the high cost and low generation of audience.
A data provider also tracked down which show was intended to be viewed based on its demand and found out that the buzz the show made following its release did not sustain till the end. The provider measured relevance in social media like Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr and also Youtube.
Other hit series in Netflix includes "Stranger Things," which will have its second season in 2017. The show had been garnering audience though the concept of the show is not that new. Netflix did not give comment as per "The Get Down's" second season or its cancellation.
