When Philadelphia 76ers announced that they are trading one of their centers, Noel and Jahlil Okafor got the spotlight. Well, Nerlens Noel also expects to play for another team in the upcoming NBA season.
In an interview via Philly.com, Nerlens Noel finds it silly for Philadelphia 76ers to have three starting centers. The young player feels that something needs to be done. The management needs to figure out how to resolve their surplus of big men to fill the other positions that need to be upgraded.
Philadelphia 76ers already admitted that they are trading one of their players. However, despite the huge interest that Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor received from other teams in the NBA league, the two players are still with Sixers.
Parent Herald previously reported that Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor have to earn their playing time in Sixers. Brett Brown told CSN Philly that there will be a competitive environment in the team. The players have to excel and the team will help them. Each needs to work hard to earn his playing time.
Well, it seems that Nerlens Noel is determined to move on. The reports have it that Noel has tons of heartaches with Sixers. The big man is already in his fourth year with his rookie deal and might likely depart from his current team.
Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor struggled to co-exist in the court. Sixers' Twin Towers was well-documented to be a burden to Noel and Okafor.
Since Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor both play center, one has to play another position when they are both on the court. If Noel stays in the team, he will only be a reserve center to Joel Embiid, whom Brown thinks is the best defense for the team.
Nerlens Noel admitted that he is aware that he was being shopped. However, Philly said that teams were reaching out to them for Noel and they declined it. Meanwhile, per Sports Rageous a potential trade for Boston Celtics or Minnesota Timberwolves involving Noel could be in the works.
If Nerlens Noel is heading to either Celtics or Timberwolves, then this could mean that he will not be playing alongside LeBron James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving for Cavs. Previous reports suggest that Cleveland Cavaliers was also interested in signing Noel.
